Delaware student says she was raped on campus and prosecutors won’t take her case

WILMINGTON, Del. – University of Delaware sophomore Alyvia Pauzer is holding a silent protest on Wednesday to draw awareness to the lack of attention she said her sexual assault has received from the state.

The 19-year-old woman said she was raped in her dorm room on Jan. 26. She had a sexual assault exam at the hospital, reported the assault to university police that day and provided several apologetic text messages from the man who allegedly assaulted her, including one stating he’d been “too aggressive.”

On Monday, Pauzer said the Delaware Department of Justice notified her that it would not be pursuing the case because it was too difficult to win in court. USA TODAY and the News Journal normally do not identify sexual assault victims, but Pauzer consented to having her name used for this article.

This is really heartbreaking to see this woman ignored for this serious case of RAPE. Just because it would be too difficult to court– but what about her rights to defend herself and her own body? She and many other people hold a silent protest to raise awareness of this issue.

thoughts about the #metoo movement

“Unlike many kinds of social-media activism, it isn’t a call to action or the beginning of a campaign, culminating in a series of protests, speeches and events. The movement is about enough being enough and holding those individuals responsible for their indiscretions.”

Honestly, that’s true. The #metoo movement wasn’t just women complaining about their experiences; it was a revolution of survivors holding perpetrators responsible for their actions.

Affect of Sexual Harassment in Public Transport

This is a slide from a video I made, regarding how sexual harassment affected the safety of women in public transport.

I hope that this video would continue to raise awareness of the dangers people are facing outside, because of sexual harassment. It has become scary for a young woman to go outside alone, because of all the high rape and crime rates. And I’m sure many women could relate to this.

Since sexual harassment is common in public transport, it’s hard to go alone without having any fear of being a victim of sexual assault. And rates of being harassed are only increasing, which is not good :(( It’s difficult to solve this problem; the only thing we can do is stand up to those who were harassed. :’)

Sexual Harassment in the Military Video

I made a video about sexual harassment in the military! Watch it here:

I made this presentation about the military because it’s not a common aspect in most people’s lives. It is more likely that they would not know what happens in the military, and this video would be able to bring awareness to this topic. Furthermore, this shows that sexual harassment can happen anywhere, and isn’t affected by the clothing that one might where, or what their job is. All people are in danger of being sexually harassed, and for people in the military, they are also in danger of being killed. They shouldn’t have to worry about being sexually harassed by their people they may have to trust with their lives.

I don’t think this video is going to reach enough people to make enough of an impact, but I hope that whoever sees this video will get something out of it!

Sexual Harassment in Schools

I decided to make a video of sexual harassment in school because I think it is important for students. As you know, I am also a student and I feel like every student has to understand how important it is to stop sexual harassment. We also have to understand how peers sexually harass each other due to peer pressure (another very important topic that sometimes that relates to sexual harassment when it comes to sexual harassment in schools).

Also I feel like sexual harassment in schools happen more often in schools. Whether it is the students sexually harassing the student or the teachers sexually harassing a student, it is an important matter that should be addressed. Also, this topic interested me more than other topics because I feel like it relates to me (because I am a student) and many other students.

Make sure to check out the video above to learn all about sexual harassment in schools.

sexual harassment in the media

in this video, i discuss the treatment and impact of sexual harassment in the media. often celebrities just ignore it, but today, more and more celebs are speaking up about it and discussing it. celebs are understanding their impact and realizing how to wield it in order to help the world stop this sort of abuse.

many celebs we know and love have an impact. matt damon (yep, i know) actually made fun of it! however, a bunch of really popular actresses (ashley judd and reese witherspoon, etc) spoke up about weintstein. there’s also more! pls watch to learn more about another impact on this movement!

Should bail be allowed someone accused of rape?

A female student in Nigeria was accused of involvement in the gang raping of a classmate.

“The court has considered the facts in the affidavit evidence before it; bail is discretion of the court which must be granted judiciously. I have considered view that due to the seriousness of the offence, bail is denied to the applicant,”

Rape is a serious crime, and one shouldn’t be able to pay their way out of it. It doesn’t change that what they did was wrong and they need to be punished. In the US though, if a person has enough power, they may believe they are above the law, and get away with a lot. All accusations should be taken seriously.
